Constricted airways
There is a very good reason why I was exposed to burning oil recently, and the chest infection I was nearly totally recovered from returned with a vengeance. So off I went to the doctor, who prescribed the necessary antibiotics. She also prescribed Ipratropium bromide to help open up my airways. I tried it and it worked much more effectively than salbutamol. I was unhappy about the side effects, but as a temporary measure whilst I carry on improving my health, it is a help. So I looked up the way it works. It turns out that it blocks the action of acetylcholine, which contracts the muscles of the lungs that shouldn't be contracting that much. Now in January this year, I was subjected to environmental extremes, which led to way too much coughing. I feel that the muscles I use to cough are way too strong now compared to the muscles I use to breathe in. As if there is a stuck command somewhere in my body to keep that inappropriate balance.
