Private Hospital Consultation

Private Hospital Consultation

Michelle arrived early andtook me to see the lung consultant at the private hospital. We had a pleasant journey, although I was getting worried that hewon't "find anything" for a long time. Although he did come recommended from someone I had carefully researched on theinternet. I was not to be disappointed. As soon as we got in, there was a spirometer - yaaaaay! After some preliminarytests, he gave me what I have been after for 17 years. He dismissed the NHS A and E saying I had no bacterial or viralinfection and reassured me that they were only relying on a very basic blood test. He agreed with me that I had a raginginfection and a definite obstruction, and said that there were signs of permament damage to the lung tissue due most probablyto what happened 18 years ago. He said it was highly unlikely to be a coincidence that I got ill and then got all thesesymptoms. He gave me a short course of oral steroids and some strong antibiotics. He booked me in for an MRI scan, which mylovely daughter Michelle is treating me to.Now here's an interesting aside about the steroids…
Harley Street Doctor

Harley Street Doctor

Dr Malcolm Van den Burg was very calm and reassuring, very professional. And I immediately saw a human side of him when I entered; he received a client call and just momentarily let his guard down. The complete opposite of all the small men and women with big pretences I had seen before (in the NHS, and some I have seen privately several years back). He did not even listen to my chest, which I knew would have been a pointless exercise, just my story, and made a phonecall to the chest consultant whom we saw the next day. It gives me great pleasure to call him Doctor because he is one in more than just name - no faux-medico-babble from him, just themedical care we were paying to get, and faster than we expected to get it.I tapped on all the above. There remains onemore thing to tap on, which I will reserve for the next posting, due to the Generalization Effect, where the effects of tappingon the biggest event generalizes over the whole series of related events. Basically, when he hit Michelle with the expectedcost of the tests, I sat there…
Woodberry Down

Woodberry Down

Living in a constant state offear compromises the immune system. Woodberry Down is where I lived in that state, and this is an account of my EFT treatment for some remaining aspects of the Woodberry Down experience. When Michelle was driving me to or from the visit to Harley Street, I saw a little bus with "Woodberry Down" written on it. It transported disabled people and had something to do with a Woodberry Down club for kids. This innocent little writing on a back of a disabled and disadvantaged kids' bus sent shivers through my body. So when I got the chance to go to the toilet, I tapped on the Gamut point while doing the eye roll slowly oneway and another, repeating "Woodberry Down" to myself. Flashes of unhappy memories popped up and quickly disappeared, shiversof fear came up through my body for a microsecond, only to dissolve into a smile and a warm happy feeling. Voices started andstopped. Then, silence. Peace, calm.Repeating it now, just checking for aspects. Some discomfort, can't see myselfwalking through there unless on a client visit.Full Basic Recipe on "this Woodberry Down feeling"Can see myself walkingthrough it but heart…
Support from my family

Support from my family

I've tapped on this so much over the last two days, the SUDS are down to 0. No Setup or Reminder, just tapped. My daughters are lovely. They both love EFT and Michelle wants to learn it on my EFT Level 1 course. It took a bit of convincing to get them to understand that my work is not my problem but my help. After all, I work on the phone at my convenience, I go to the clinics only 2-ish days a week, do home visits at mutually convenient times, and I teach an average of 4 days a month. The rest of the time is admin, sales and marketing at my convenience from home. I pretty much choose my own hours to ensure that I don't stress my body morethan necessary, and people pay me good money for my skills, experience, knowledge and dedication. And, if it wasn't for mywork, I would never have found out about COPD in the first place. Or been able to self-treat so efficiently. I also know thatEFT has helped my family bond together despite all the problems that we endured directly and indirectly as a result…
NHS Walk in Centre, Hospital A and E, GP merry-go-round

NHS Walk in Centre, Hospital A and E, GP merry-go-round

Ok, this is the way it is if you are an undiagnosed COPD patient trusting your lungs to the crazy system known as the NHS. You fall ill with a chest infection and need to go to the doctor because you can't take three weeks off work and get herbal and physiotherapy support. The doctor will only see you by appointment and the nearest you can make without losing your job is about 2 weeks away. My doc used to see people on an emergency basis. I went there 2-3 months ago for this and found that the system had changed without warning. I was told the emergency appointments are only seen in the morning, and if I couldn't wait, to go to the NHS Walk-in Centre. Now, if you have undiagnosed COPD, the Walk-in Centre doesn't prescribe and sends you to the Accident and Emergency who dismiss you and don't prescribe more than an asthma pump if you were really worried you might pop your cork by the time you can get to your doc. This happened on Thursday 26th May 2005. SUDS 3 1/2 Setup:"Even though I have this NHSMerry-go-round challenge, I choose to…
Hospital Medical Abuse, Accident and Emergency

Hospital Medical Abuse, Accident and Emergency

Thursday 26th May incidents after the ambulance delivered me into A & E.I waited and waited and was finally seen by various nurses and doctors, finally was given a nebuliser as my Peak Flow was 150 "to see if it will help". I explained that I was taking Chest-Eze to artificially expand my lungs and drain off some of the fluid until I could recover. I explained it had Theophylline, the medic couldn't even find it in his medical book, and as far as I could remember, also Ephedrine, which drew a blank look from the young medic's face. He suggested that I take paracetamol whenever I felt too hot and that it was OK to carry on taking Paracetamol even though I had explained that I had also taken a cold remedy containing Paracetamol and had taken more than I should have. This was The Dippy Blond Intern. Previously, I was given up on by The Dippy Black Intern. At least we had racial unity on this one, huh? Dippy Black Intern incident: He took me into a cubicle to start the examination, H and Itold him I have suspected emphysema. He…
Hospital Medical Abuse, Ambulance Incident

Hospital Medical Abuse, Ambulance Incident

Last weekend, I went on a long client visit. This client did not know about my COPD and had genuinely thought a family member was suffering from emotional matters rather than a respiratory infection, highly contagious to someone with COPD just recovering from a previous infection.I must say, I loved being there and teaching this wonderful man and his family, playing EFT games with the children as part of his weekend professional EFT course. I have already tapped on having caught this infection afterwards and forgiven him. Ifyou are him reading this, please don't worry; very good things have come out of this. Beyond every cloud there is truly asilver lining. All we have to do is look for it and grab it when it appears, and then the skies open to all manner ofpossibilities.By Tuesday, I knew the chest infection had taken hold of me. H started cancelling and re-appointing clientvisits, including phone EFT when I couldn't talk much. Tuesday and Wednesday I was slowly getting better but too slowly. Thedays were going in a haze and I knew by Thursday morning that meant I was seriously short on oxygen. Thursday morning,…
Exercise treatment

Exercise treatment

Yesterday, I had a group EFTsession and wanted to demonstrate EFT to the group. After having a chest infection for two months, with two months of almostno formal exercise, I feel breathless and am dependent on medication, so I tapped for the goal of exercise and diet to help meback to a healthier state. I broke the goal down to about five or six consecutive time periods over two days, and tapped oneach period of the goal whilst visualising myself carrying out these goals. The SUDS went down from 10 (not being able to visualise myself clearly and comfortably carrying out the tasks) to 0 (seeing myself clearly in full colour carrying out the challenges with comfort) on all portions of the task ahead. This was for a student, who decided to start with the Setup statement of "Even though I have set myself this goal, I deeply and completely love and accept myself". At first, this made me feel uncomfortable, as I disagreed and felt that this goal was set for me by outside forces (I wanted to be fitter faster because of a TV show). Then I stuck with it and realised that…
Danger all around – EFT trauma release

Danger all around – EFT trauma release

I lived in fear for years when I initially became ill, which is no good for the immune system, so I have now started treating this. So basically, I was inthe most violent place in Europe (I found out afterwards) surrounded by kids with shotguns and armed with other stuff and beyond the reach of the law. This having come from a much more privileged background, another reason why the children, often sent by their parents, attacked me. When I fell ill I couldn't move away for a long time (being ill makes you poor and if you don't have enough oxygen for sufficient speech, you can't talk the authorities into helping you). The other day I started tapping on one event I thought was big at that time when volunteering for a student (she didn't know the details, and if you're the student in question reading this, may I say thank you for a first-class treatment). The effect was much less atthe beginning of the treatment because I tap daily, but I still got a high SUDS on it and tripped back in time to an evenbigger event at that location. dealt with…
